DIAITA Core Team
NURSE CARE COACH
Dana is a Registered Nurse and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
in 2009 from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. She is certified
in Medical-Surgical Nursing and has spent the last 10 years caring for
patients in the hospital. Over the course of that time, she has become
deeply passionate about preventing disease and disability. That passion
inspired her to earn a Certificate in Nutrition from Tufts University
in 2016 and to become a Board Certified Nurse Coach in 2017.
Dana’s coaching philosophy is centered on building a trusting relationship
with her clients and the belief that each client is their own best expert.
Her commitment is to deeply listen and support each person in discovering
what will truly work for them. Dana loves to empower her coaching clients
to achieve lasting lifestyle change by encouraging realistic goals and
small, steady steps. Dana lives in Lafayette with her husband Mike, son
Owen and Australian Shepard Ralphie. She loves to golf, ski, hike and
paddleboard.
NUTRITIONIST
Conner Middelmann is a nutritionist specializing in the Mediterranean diet.
She is the owner of Modern Mediterranean, a Boulder-based business that
provides nutrition coaching and cooking nutrition.
Conner works part-time at the Colorado Center for Medical Excellence in
Denver, an internal medicine practice where she supports patients dealing
with metabolic imbalances (e.g., (pre)diabetes, hypertension, unhealthy
blood lipids, NAFLD, obesity, etc). As a vast body of science shows, the
Mediterranean diet promotes metabolic health.
Conner also works with a lot of people affected by cancer. A 18-year cancer
survivor herself, Conner has written a book, Zest for Life: The Mediterranean
Anti-Cancer Diet, and teaches monthly nutrition classes at the BCH/Rocky
Mountains Cancer Center in Boulder.
Conner was born in Germany, raised in Belgium, studied in the UK and lived
in the south-west of France for 11 years before arriving in Boulder in
2012. Her 17-year-old twins attend Fairview High School and her 22-year-old
son is a Senior at CU Boulder, and because the whole family loves the
Boulder lifestyle, Conner has decided to settle here. Conner believes
food -- and life -- should be enjoyed, not endured. The Mediterranean
diet isn't a "diet," but a lifestyle. It's delicious,
nutritious, life-affirming and uncomplicated. Let her help you adopt and
maintain this way of eating for the rest of your life.
