Akin Beckley MD, PhD, FACS is a Board-Certified General Surgeon with greater
than 10 years experience. Most recently, he served as Assistant Professor
at University of New Mexico. Dr. Beckley has extensive training in all
aspects of general surgery, including the latest in procedures for gastrointestinal
surgery, hernia repair, breast and venous disease. When possible, Dr.
Beckley prefers minimally invasive techniques to all of his surgeries.
Dr. Beckley is committed to excellent patient care. He takes pride in his
ability to put patients at ease and to help them understand their needs
and options. He believes that continual learning and technique expertise
are essential in providing the best overall care for his patients. He
has been recognized by the Patients’ Choice Award, America’s
Most Compassionate Doctors and On-Time Doctor Award.
Dr. Beckley received his board certification from the American Board of
Surgery in 2006 and is a fellow of the American College Of Surgeons. Dr.
Beckley received his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry with honors,
followed by his Medical Degree from the University of Connecticut in 1994.
He then completed a postgraduate PHD in Biomedical Science from the University
of Connecticut prior to starting his surgical career. Dr. Beckley’s

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Beckley loves spending time with his
wife and family. They enjoy traveling, swimming and new experiences. He

recovery after surgery.
