Christy’s earned her BS in Exercises Physiology & Nutrition at
the University of Arizona before moving to Birmingham and completing a
Master of Science Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Alabama
at Birmingham. Since 1996 Christy has maintained certification as a Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist from NSCA. In 2013 Christy began
training in Trigger Point Dry Needling completing Lev I, II and functional
dry needling and has incorporated TPDN as part of her regular practice.
Christy brings over 30 years of experience in sports rehabilitation. She
evaluates clients engaging range of techniques to identify the underlying
issue and then focuses on educating clients on functional movement patterns,
strength, flexibility, empowering them to build confidence, correct issues
and develop patterns for a lasting improvement. Treatment approaches include
biomechanical assessment to address dysfunctional movement patterns, manual
therapy, Trigger Point Dry Needling, core- strengthening, K-Tape, gait
alterations and orthotic prescription as needed.
Christy specializes in running and walking gait analysis with an integrative
approach encompassing foot, ankle, knee, hip and core strengthening to
address issues of foot, ankle, knee hip or low back. She takes the same
biomechanical approach when addressing issues of the shoulder. She has
a passion for post-surgical patients, total joint replacements and surgical
trauma rehabilitation.
Outside of the clinic Christy enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing, camping,
volleyball and just being outdoors. Her greatest joy comes from watching
her kids grow and supporting them in whatever adventure they may partake in.
