Dr. Daniel O’Hair joined Boulder Heart as Cardiovascular Surgery
Program Chair in 2019. With a unique combination of skills and more than
20 years of experience, Dr. O’Hair works effectively in both the
operating room and the cardiac catheterization lab. This allows him to
advise patients from a perspective that can be matched by few physicians.
At Boulder Heart, Dr. O’Hair performs a range of cardiovascular
surgeries, including complex open-heart surgery and robotic-assisted mitral
valve repair.
Dr. O’Hair is one of the nation’s leading experts in robotic-assisted
mitral valve repair, and Colorado’s most experienced surgeon with
this minimally invasive procedure performed with the da Vinci® Xi™
Surgical System. Dr. O’Hair also has been selected as a global proctor
for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), meaning he teaches
other cardiologists to perform this innovative procedure.
Prior to joining Boulder Community Health, Dr. O’Hair successfully
created one of the largest, high-performing heart valve programs in the
United States and was active in clinical trials. He served as a medical
community leader in Wisconsin for two decades, performing the first robotic-assisted
mitral valve repair, TAVR, and mitral valve replacement (TMVR) procedures
in the state.
Dr. O’Hair received his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin,
where he also completed his residency and a research fellowship in general
surgery. He went on to complete an additional fellowship in transplantation
as well as a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Columbia University
College of Physicians and Surgeons.
